BLOCK DOWN STORIES | Lee Pak Hin Andre, CEO of AppDe & Director of GBEX Exchange

Introduction about yourself and your company?

I am a former police officer from Singapore, then had a short stint in banking and then was involved in major construction and engineering projects working at Small Medium Enterprises to listed companies involved in multi-million dollar projects in Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, West Africa, and the Middle East. I then moved on from my previous employment into consulting and business in the construction and engineering sector.

I first heard of blockchain in the year 2018. I am now concentrating on blockchain business as I firmly believe in the benefits the technology can bring to the world at large. For blockchain, I have past experience in a leading blockchain advisory firm, Xinfin Network as Head Business Development where I did some courses to learn more about blockchain development. I am now a director of GBEX Exchange, a boutique crypto exchange in Singapore, Sales Director at Home bloc. I co-founded Appde Technologies Pte Ltd as I saw a huge gap in the care for dementia patients and a huge opportunity in the billion-dollar industry in the memory training business. A lot of immediate relatives ended up spending a lot of money on healthcare in the wrong places. Our project aims to improve transparency through the usage of blockchain. (AppDe Store) is a platform for memory related games and applications that are developed to mitigate or improve the well-being of patients with permanent dementia. will also serve as a memory training platform for users interested in mastering advanced memory techniques such as memorizing the content of an entire book. The app platform will be opened to third-party software developers who may be interested in registering and listing their apps on the platform. AppDe is one of the first application distribution platform to focus on permanent dementia applications.

How are you and your business in this time of crisis?

In the beginning, I was not used to this lockdown or circuit breaker as I am a very social able person. One of the things the blockchain industry is famous for is the events that have come to a stop. Without events, it has become a major challenge for networking and looking for investors so we had no choice to plan for online investment events.

What do you think will happen after all quarantine period will be lifted?

I think they will do trial mini-events less than 50 and raise in gradual increments. The business will be back to the normal stage by stage.

What are the things you’re doing this lockdown period?

Improving our whitepaper, investment deck, planning and setting up our social media channels, attending online webinars, online training, signing agreements with vendors, co-founding team. Planning for online investment pitching, and online investment events.

What are some lessons you’ve learned during this pandemic? To save money for a rainy day. Prioritize what needs to be done.

What are the things you’re grateful for?

Grateful to have super team members for Appde and glad they joined the team.

Can you please share some stories of what you’re doing during quarantine?

Spend more time with family as normally due to flying around I was not so free to spend time with them.

Spend more time indoors compared to outdoors, getting more work done as less face to face meetings

Can you give some advise to other people and business out there during this pandemic?

Not to overextend yourselves to unnecessary borrowing from banks. Even when I was approached by banks to have a cheap loan, I chose not to take it. As CEO I control the expenses very well even before covid19 as we still at the startup stage.

Do you agree that Blockchain can help sustain the economy?

I agree blockchain is the future and present of the economy. It can be used to raised funding for even traditional businesses like property development, infrastructure, oil, and gas.

For Appde we can open a new economy for memory, dementia, and Alzheimer related and health industries.

Where can we follow you and your business?
